I used to drink Kava at the bars fairly frequently when I lived on the islands. I’ve tried kava capsules (I don’t recommend), hand-making Kava from another brand (recommend, if you have time and expertise) and this one is it for me!
I bought 3: Borongoru, Pouni Ono, and Samoa Ava. I’ve had this brand for a little under a month. I first prepared them (1TBS) with whole milk as was suggested to me, but it got to a point where I couldn’t stomach it anymore haha. I started preparing it with a little hot water, just enough to cover the powder, then gradually adding cold water to bring the temperature to neutral. I’m not sensitive to bitter tastes, but this method is not for the weak. Hold your breath, toss it back in one go and wait for the fireworks. I found that this gives me the tongue-numbness I love, and it actually seems to kick in almost immediately, and maybe even stronger than when I prepared it with milk.
As for the specific strains:
Borongoru – has very little effect for me. Not sure why.
Samoa Ava – has a milder effect for me. Definitely an afternoon pick-me-up. Not too heady, not too body, just right for making it through the rest of the day on a sunny note. A favorite for winding down and stopping obsessive thoughts, I’m able to process things without stressing out. 1TBS of this is too much for me at once, so I usually split it into two doses over the course of 1-2 hours. Makes music sound great. Great, quality instant Kava. Have taken this one with a glass of wine to finish. Perfect balance.
Pouni Ono – 1TBS will completely take me out. It’s like riding an iridescent wave of chill. I don’t use this one during the day because the heady effects are so overwhelming that I tire out pretty quickly. It’s like being thrown in the air, floating blissfully for a little bit, and then being dragged down and landing on a nice, warm blanket. Towards the end of dosing, this one makes me feel like I’m heavy, almost melting into sleep. It makes me insanely social – I usually have trouble talking to grocery clerks. I am so socially anxious that when I cross the street, I sweat because I can feel people watching me. I can have full-on conversations with strangers comfortably the day after I drink Pouni Ono. The effects seem to taper into the next day no matter when I drink it, but I am abundantly mellow for the rest of that day. This feels better than beer at a house party. Absolute favorite.
Cons of PO: For me, it can be a little uncomfortable at high doses. It causes my muscles to lightly spasm. The Pouni Ono almost always leaves me with a migraine the next day. I’ve tapered my doses lower, down to 1tsp, and I somehow always wake up with a mild kava hangover. Nothing uncomfortable, but definitely noteable. I think this strain slightly elevates my blood pressure. Would not take with alcohol – I couldn’t imagine it. Still, the best around.
Overall, it helps me overcome social anxieties. It’s like the world around me isn’t as immediate. It helps me focus on my work and I don’t stress over pretty much anything when I drink this brand of Kava regularly. Kalm With Kava is officially my favorite brand, and I am already placing a second order.

Let me start off by saying, I never leave a review on anything but with how much Kava helped me I just have to. Long story short, I had an extremely bad problem with drugs. Some might say I went insane because of them. I however view it as simply loosing balance and becoming lost and confused in life. I just wasn’t myself. Once I discovered Kava(I tried Pouni Ono and Loa Waka) I became so clear headed again. It’s as if Kava helped me gain my mind back, hell it honestly gave me my life back. I’m talking with my family more, I’m able to look at myself and not be ashamed of who I am. which for about 3.5 years I could have never done. I’m also understanding so much more in life and I’ve never been happier. My energy has completely reverted back to what it once was when I was much younger. I can actually trust the things I’m thinking again and I’ve stopped doubting myself like I was. I’ve also been able to stop smoking weed(I was smoking anywhere from 5-8 times a day) and stopped being extremely unhealthy. To conclude, All I can say is thank you and to anyone reading this that has also struggled with similar issues and is considering trying Kava I highly recommend this. Choose a strain that fits you the best as everyone is different, what working for some might not work the same for others.

I am new to Kava.. I initially saw a post on FB followed the links and came across your company. However, not knowing all Kava’s are not equal I ordered some capsules off Amazon…big mistake!!! So, I had to backtrack to find your site. I then ordered Borongoru…say what! Omg, I took it on the weekend, no cares in the world! I also ordered the Pouni Ono, this is the one I take when working, I work in corrections and it keeps me from making the nightly news, with this one I am focused and have no compulsion to react to anything you’ve said to me. You wouldn’t believe some of the things that come out their mouth!!!. My only request would be to please not change the formula, it is perfect the way it is!!!!! Thanks!

I recently received a sample pack of micronized kava. I was a little disappointed at first because one of the samples was mixed up. However I talked to customer service and they gladly sent me the correct one.
I prefer this micronized kava over the medium grind ones. I’m just not a fan of the whole straining and kneading part of kava making. This micronized kava is so easy. Just add it to your drink and mix!
My favorite is the Tonga. Kava. It gives me a nice heady relaxation.

The quality is good, however shipping has consistently been a problem. I have tried to pay for UPS (the most reliable service in my area), however despite having paid more money for UPS, it was sent thru fed ex (the least reliable service in my area). FedEx was less expensive option. They did refund me partial shipping costs for using a different carrier than I paid for, however the package has still not arrived and it schedule to arrive at least 8 days after I ordered (that is if they don’t push the delivery date for the 3rd time). I sincerely hope that going forward they will utilize the shipping option that the customer chose and paid for at time of purchase.
